Home Ministry demands fresh security clearance from community radios seeking extension

NEW DELHI: Community Radio stations whose licences are expiring by 31 March next year have been asked to apply for an extension.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B Ministry) said today that the Home Ministry will review the cases for fresh security clearances.

The Ministry said in a format posted on its website that the matter of extension of the grant of permission agreement (GOPA) had been pending with it for some time and it had now taken a decision on renewal.

Stakeholders wanting extension have been asked to apply by 31 December giving full details of the management of the community radio station, including its partners.
