MUMBAI: Saregama India Ltd has announced the appointment of Umang Kanoria as Additional Director. Kanoria will hold office up to the next Annual General Meeting of the Company.

The appointment was made on 28 September 2015, and Kanoria will assume the duties in his new role at the earliest.

Speaking about the new appointment, Saregama India Ltd. GM Legal & company secretary Tony Paul said, "He has several years of experience in the business, and we will require his administrative and contacts in the business. He will be an independent director and will be guiding and advising in various capacities for the expansion of the business. Kanoria has various other roles in the industry, though not in music, but he will be able to put his past management experience to use and take up the challenges."

Prior to his appointment with Saregama, Kunoria served as chairman and managing director of Kanco Enterprises Ltd, from where he resigned earlier this year. He previously was also president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce from 2004 – 2005.
