MUMBAI: Lady Gaga has managed yet another milestone, this time with her second single- ‘Poker Face’ from her 2008 album ‘The Fame’. The track has now been certified 10 times platinum by the RIAA (Recording . The song, which won a Grammy award for Best Dance Recording, hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and is now Diamond certified.
‘Poker Face’ now becomes Gaga’s second track to be Diamond-certified, after ‘Bad Romance’, which managed the feat in 2013. The track was a part of the singer’s third EP ‘The Fame Monster’, and the certification made her the first female digital diamond award recipient. Another song by Gaga that has come close to hitting the diamond mark is ‘Just Dance,’ which reached eight-times platinum in May this year.
Apart from her latest feat, the ‘Born This Way’ singer will also be honoured as Woman of the Year at Billboard’s Women In Music event. The event will be broadcast on Lifetime on 18 December, 2015.
Not long before ‘Poker Face’ reached the diamond-certification mark, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also managed to hit the milestone with their Grammy winning single- ‘Thrift Shop’.
According to RIAA’s digital singles criteria, one unit is equal to one digital download or 100 streams. was the one to reach diamond before ‘Poker Face.’
