MUMBAI: It did not take too long for Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber to reclaim his throne at the UK Singles Chart, as the 21-year-old returned to the top spot after spending a week at number 2. The ‘Love Yourself’ singer dropped to second position during Christmas as NHS Choir shot to the peak and stayed there till 2016’s first chart was announced. Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ is the first no1 single of 2016 on UK charts.
The subsequent positioned four singles climbed up one place each from previous week’s Charts. Fleur East’s ‘Sax’ returned to the Top 10, whereas Stormzy’s ‘Shut Up’ ended its two week long Top 10 run with the New Year.
No changes were recorded in the Top 3 Albums Chart, as Adele continued her reign into the year 2016, for the sixth consecutive week. Elvis Presley’s ‘If I Can Dream’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Purpose’ refused to budge, as they retained their positions at #2 and #3 respectively. Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ and Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ returned to the Top 10, after 18 weeks and 4 weeks respectively. James Bay returned to the Top 10 with his album ‘Chaos and the Calm’ having finished at 9th position for ten weeks. One Direction’s ‘Made In The A.M.’ secured the highest position since spending a week at the top spot on its release on 31 July, 2015.
