MUMBAI: One of the leading streaming companies in the world, Spotify, announced the plan to provide services beyond audio content. The aural-only service prepares to evolve with the trend considered and accepted by several other music streaming competitors in the world.
The original video content would be launched in the form of twelve shows revolving around Spotify's primary export - music. Spotify's approach towards the implementation of the 'beyond-the-audio-spectrum' would not be generic. The company plans to launch a reality hip hop competition series (produced by All Def Digital), a documentary series (starting with Metallica and The Beach Boys, collaboration with artistes for music videos and other forms of entertainment.
Although Spotify has been providing video content since the dawn of 2016, the shorter-length videos and clips could not manage to receive necessary push and audience. With twelve original shows, Spotify's latest effort can potentially put them in competition with players like Netflix and Hulu, and further makes them a stronger force in the streaming music ecosystem.
