Delhi Belly has succeeded in quenching the thirst of innovative music and has finally got Bollywood music on right trail, no inspiration, no remixes and no oldies but pure new creative music. Ram Sampath has proved his mettle by delivering a total new musical vibe to Delhi Belly. With the rock, punk, whacky feel to the music and equally whacky lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, the album purely dedicated to youngsters is an absolute hit with clear defined niche.
Consisting of 10 songs Delhi Belly kicks off with the crazy punk rock fusion Bhaag DK Bose Bhaag' which has already became a rage with the crowd, inspite of all the good and bad reasons. But no matter what, the song is highly addictive with a creative punch of hilarious and compelling lyrics. Singing for the first time Ram Sampath has got his notes right, by combining his gritty voice with fantastic guitar solos and thumping up tempo drum beats. Even though the cuss word in title has not gone well with elderly masses it definitely highlights the free-spirited youth culture, and might also become a youth anthem of the year.
Second in line is Nakkaddwaley Disco, Udhaarwaley Kisko,' an effortless funky fusion of traditional qawwali with equally fanatical bass beat. The music is creatively arranged with the slow qawwali instrumentation at the background and quirky pop at the front pace. The cheeky and slow vocal by Keerti Sagathia gives a right effect to the comical lyrics amusing listeners to its wits.
The third track is the standout melody of the album Saigal Blue'- as the title suggests it is a fitting tribute to legendary singer KL Saigal. The sad romantic song with a mishmash of contemporary rock and retro voice of Chetan Shashital, creates graceful fusion that works well alongside of the coarse guitar beat. The sad romantic lyric of the track is humorous to the core that wins over the all left out odds.
After three thumping beats, Ram Sampath has decided to keep the next song Bedardi Raja simple yet sultry, with a rustic voice of Sona Mohapatra. The lyrics once again get witty and amusing with a slender form of adultery.
The alternate version of the track is also offered by music director for those who have missed the thumping beats. The remix version of Bedardi Raja (Grind mix)' makes the track an item song with the electronic music.
Jaa Chudail' is a bit let down as the retro music and loud voice of Suraj Jagan gets quiet harsh on ears. The tracks deals with all the emotions of love with a pun intended lyrics.
Tere Siva is a situational and typical Bollywood romantic song but the experimental music with percussive beats and the traditional drum in a romantic song brings the new vibe in this d?©j? -vu track. It's the only song where the lyrics are kept simple taking in the nature of song.
The seventh track is another situational yet energetic Punjabi pop fusion Switty tera pyaar Chaida' with peppy pop music. The song brings out the Delhi flavor through the Punjabi lyrics and is one of the most passionately comical tracks. The punk version of the song Switty Punk' is even funkier than the original with the high octave tumbi and dhol beats alongside of guitar riffs.
The quirkiest and the wittiest track of the album I hate you' is a mixture of retro qawwali and disco style of music, and is beautifully blended with easy entry of heavy disco beats in between smooth synthesizer notes. The crooning of Keerti Sagathia and Sona Mohapatra has followed the pattern of music by merging the two style of strong yet soft singing.
Overall with eight original track and two remixes the album wraps up as a peculiar and youth oriented soundtrack of the year, till date. The intentional pun intended lyrics total outrageous innovative music and sensational situational singing has delivered the clear intention of the album- which is to rock the youth culture, and clearly Ram Sampath has proved that this is his year and is back with a bang.
