MUMBAI: Mathrubhumi venture Club FM has launched its fifth radio station and its first overseas, in Dubai, UAE. The radio station, which is focused on the Malayalee diaspora, is aired on the frequency of 99.6 on the FM band in Dubai.
Says the radio station's creative head Priyaraj Govindraj, "We have a huge audience in Dubai. A huge crowd in Dubai speaks Malayalam and with over four Malayalam stations already running in Dubai, the competition is quite tough. Still, the listeners are loyal and they understand the importance of radio in their lives."
"We are one vibrant name that will surely gather mass listenership abroad," adds Priyaraj.
Famous Malayalee actor Dulquer Salmaan has been appointed the brand ambassador Club FM, Dubai that launched on 13 July 2016. The launch function was attended by Dulquer Salmaan as Chief Guest, along with P V Chandran (Managing Editor), M V Sreeyams Kumar (Director- Electronic & Media), P PSaseendran (News Head), P S Shree Kumar (General Manager) and K R Pramod (Chief Manager-Public Relations) along with other company officials.
The FM station has specifically changed its signature tune for the Dubai station and has new shows lined up particularly for Malayalees based in Dubai.
"We are going to come up with shows based on nostalgia for people of Kerala settled in Dubai. `We are also planning a show inspired by true incidents where people will come on air and share their experiences," explains Priyaraj.
Most of the RJs for the new station are Dubai based who have earlier worked with Club FM.
Club FM (Dubai) sports the tagline Ton Kannakkinu Fun meaning ‘tonnes of fun’. Instant Coffee from 5-6 a.m. dishes out positive energy and music. This is followed by Kalakkan Recharge (6-10 a.m.), Ishtamulla Pattu Live (10-1 p.m.) offering call-on-demand songs, Break free (1-2 p.m.) with charming music, wishes to celebrities, stars and celebration of special occasions, Dubai-centric Life is Beautiful (2-4 pm), tea time show Ready Steady Po (4-8 p.m.), Music Mojo (8-10p.m.) radio version of unplugged music show on Kappa TV, Arikey (10 pm-1 a.m.), for the nostalgic Malayalee, and Happy Journey (1-5 a.m.), a feel good programme.
According to sources, the radio station is soon going to launch in Abu Dhabi as well.
