MediaCorp, Big FM to launch station in Singapore jointly

MUMBAI: Singapores Radio network MediaCorp, has joined hands with Indias Big FM Network to offer the local populace. Singapores only Bollywood radio station has been given the title of ?‹?“Big Bollywood 96.3 FM.

The radio station will broadcast ?‹?“live Bollywood entertainment everyday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, which will include Bollywood hits from the 2000s onwards. The station is targeted at Asians who seek Bollywood entertainment. This collaboration between the two media powerhouses will cater to the entertainment requirements of not only the fast growing Indian expat community in Singapore, but also all Asians who enjoy Bollywood music and content.
The programming mix has been put together after much research, to offer an increasingly large base of Bollywood fans their daily dose of music and content. The wholesome entertainment mix has been put together, after much research of the local tastes and requirements to ensure ultimate listener pleasure. The programming mix will largely cover:

Interesting Bollywood gossip and trivia
An interview with a Bollywood celebrity every day
Humor capsules from Indias best comedians Shekhar Suman, Raju Shrivastav and Sunil Pal
News from India ?“ covering general news, financial news as well as sports news
The programs are designed to cater to all sections of the Asian community seeking Bollywood entertainment back in Singapore.

FM 96.3, the international channel, was launched in 1998 to cater to the special needs of the expatriate communities in Singapore, and currently carries a range of broadcast programmes in Japanese, German, French, and Korean.

The official signing ceremony between the two companies was held today at the Grand Hyatt, Singapore presided by MediaCorp managing director Philip Koh, and Big 92.7 FM COO Tarun Katial. The afternoon, in addition to being completely hosted in complete Bollywood style had a huge surprise in store for audiences with Indias young legendary singer Sonu Niigaam, grace the occasion with his presence.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Katial says, This partnership only strengthens Big 92.7 FMs endeavor to reach out to audiences the world over who are seeking Bollywood entertainment on Radio. We are extremely excited to join hands with Singapores most premier and popular Radio Network, MediaCorp. After the phenomenal response received from India, we are all geared to entertain people overseas. Our effort is to entertain the Indian diaspora, giving them the flavor of radio, back home. We also believe, with the increasing popularity of Bollywood movies across Asia and the world, there is an international audience who will also be interested in consuming our content.

Philip Koh adds, The addition of Hindi programming on FM 96.3, we will further reinforce the stations position as a station for the expatriate community. The Hindi expatriate community is possibly the fastest growing one in Singapores quest to attract foreign talent to our shores.
