MUMBAI: The American Music Awards, the world’s biggest fan-voted award show, have announced the ‘2016 American Music Awards’ nominees.

Adele leads Sony Music artists with five nods for Artist of the Year; Favorite Female Artist-Pop/Rock; Favorite Album-Pop/Rock; Favorite Song-Pop/Rock; Favorite Artist-Adult Contemporary.

Beyoncé and The Chainsmokers follow with four nominations each. Bryson Tiller and Carrie Underwood received three nods apiece. Future and Meghan Trainor received two noms each.

Other SME nominees include Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Calvin Harris, Cam,Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias, Fifth Harmony, John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini (RED),Nicky Jam, Old Dominion, Rachel Platten and ZAYN.

The Artist of the Year nominees include Adele, Beyoncé and Carrie Underwood, among others. The ten nominees will be narrowed to five based on the votes received through Monday, 14 November at 8:59:59am PT.  Voting for Artist of the Year will close on Thursday, 17 November at 8:59:59pm PT. The winner will be determined by the total votes received throughout the entire voting period. 

Nominees for New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile include The Chainsmokers and ZAYN. Voting for this category opens 2 November.

American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.

The American Music Awards winners are voted entirely by fans. Voting is open now via AMAvote.com and Twitter, for all categories except New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile, which will open on 2 November.

Recording artists Joe Jonas and Rachel Platten revealed six categories of nominees live yesterday on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America,’ with other nominees later revealed via Snapchat and ABC News. The ‘2016 American Music Awards’ will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20 at 8:00pm ET on ABC.
