MUMBAI: Rex Fernandez, who made an exit from Colors Infinity's 'The Stage' this Saturday (15 October 2016) is not just another still-in-college with enough-time-in-hand kind of a reality show contestant. He is a man with a corporate career and some real fancy degrees, that fetch him enough to pay the bills and a few luxuries. But, he has one thing in common with all the other contestants and that's his passion for music.

The singer is completely in love with music. An art that he spends most of his free time with. However, he hasn't thought of making it a career yet. Well, not even after 'The Stage' happened to him.

"I work as a training consultant with a lot of firms. This gives me enough time to do my music. It gives me some fulfillment, but I am not looking at doing it professionally," says the singer who believes that life as a musician is full of struggles.

"I have friends who are completely into music and it's not easy. I just feel that one should take up a job along with their passion."

Though Fernandez is not looking at making it big musically at the moment, he is regular at performing for the church choir group. "I am a church singer. I have been singing since the tenth standard. I started learning guitar when I was in fifth," confesses the singer who sang gospel song 'Amazing Grace' during the auditions, but later in the competition went on to sing some pop numbers.

"I have heard all sorts of songs, but I have never been inclined towards them. My focus has always been the gospel songs. So I had to work really hard to memorise the lyrics of pop songs."

The singer also has a composer in him. A side that got him through the auditions. "I was asked to compose a song in two minutes and I managed to get the chorus in the given time," shares the artist.

Lastly, he admits that though singing seems like a good opportunity post 'The Stage' he is skeptical about it. "I feel the artists should be paid well and recognized. Something that does not happen with all. I am working on my own music at the moment. It's an experimental genre. Let's see how it goes."
