MUMBAI: The 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards were held at the Ahoy Rotterdam in Netherlands on 6 November 2016. Hosted by Bebe Rexha, the EMA is one of the most iconic Music Awards shows in the world. The nominations were announced on 27 September 2016 and Lady Gaga, Martin Garrix and Justin Bieber dominated the awards, winning two awards separately in multiple categories.
It was indeed a night to remember with an epic clash of the young and bold with Justin Bieber squaring off v/s Beyoncé (six nominations) as the two artists got maximum nominations, followed by renowned artists such as Adele, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes who were not far behind.
With the performance by world famous musicians like Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Bruno Mars, DNCE and much more and of course India’s own Deepika Padukone presenting one of the awards, was an unforgettable night. During the function, host Bebe Rexha revealed the EMA trophies had been turned purple in memory of pop superstar Prince.

Global Icon Award was bagged by Green Day whereas being nominated for three awards including Best Female, Adele left bare handed. Although, British rock band Coldplay picked up the Best Rock award. Also, Deepika Padukone was one of the presenters at the EMAs.
The Europe Music Awards 2016 is scheduled to air straight from Netherlands, on Vh1, Monday, 7 November 6 AM onwards, along with a prime time repeat 9PM onwards. Catch the Red Carpet event 5AM onwards, with a prime time repeat at 8 PM.
