MUMBAI: Two weeks after its Pune launch, Entertainment Network (India) Ltd launched its newest station in Kanpur on Monday.
ENIL has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company has commenced broadcast from its second radio station at Kanpur, where it already operates one channel, from 19 December.
The new station, which runs on the 91.9 FM frequency, was acquired under Phase 3 auctions held last financial year). The new channel has been branded "Mirchi Love".
The radio network's second frequencies in the existing markets have been branded as ‘Mirchi Love’. The stations launched under the new brand name are Mirchi Love Ahmedabad (104 FM), Mirchi Love Jaipur (104 FM) and Mirchi Love Surat (91.9 FM), and the latest, Mirchi Love Pune.
ENIL invested over Rs 339 crore during the first stage of the phase III FM auctions and bagged 17 new channels across 16 cities. These include new cities like Chandigarh, Kochi, Kozhikode, Jammu, Srinagar, Guwahati and Shillong. It has also acquired an additional frequency in existing markets like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Nagpur and Surat.
Mirchi Love Kanpur will have to compete for listeners' attention with Big FM, Red FM, the All India Radio Kanpur station and the original Radio Mirchi station as well.
