NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that once the Nellore All India Radio FM station becomes operational, it will go a long way not only in patronising the local talents in the fields of art and culture but also become a catalyst for the social and economic development of the region.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of the 10kw FM Station of AIR in Nellore (Andhra Pradesh) in a glittering ceremony in the SPSR Nellore district headquarters this morning, the Minister said this station will have state of the art imported FM transmitter and broadcast equipment comparable to international standards.
Describing it as the first step towards fulfilling a long standing dream and aspiration of the people of Nellore, the Minister said it will originate programmes independent of AIR, Vijayawada, Cuddapah or Chennai and will have a pure local complexion.
The programme of the station shall also be available on mobile phones, car stereos etc. besides conventional radio receivers.
Many other dignitaries including Andhra Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, Member of Parliament M Rajmohan Reddy, Nellore Mayor Abdul Azeez and AIR DG F Sheheryar among others were present on the occasion.
