Mirchi Bangalore launches reality show with twist

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi's Bangalore station has launched Mirchi Double Dharode (Double Loot), a reality show with a twist that envisages its RJs trying to win back listeners' winnings.

The show will be hosted by morning Jock 'Pori Tapori' Rachna on her 7 to 11 am show and by 'Badshah' Avinash on his 5 to 9 pm show.

Listeners can get selected to be on the show by correctly answering the qualifying question. The selected listener for the contest wins the entire Rs 98,300 even before the game show starts, and the contestant has to now protect this money over the next five questions and prevent it from being looted by the Radio Mirchi jockeys. With each wrong answer, the contestant loses one digit from the amount and the prize money can get reduced from Rs 98,300 to Rs nine in just five questions. The inaugural episode to be aired on 21 July at 7 am, has superstar Upendra playing the contest. The prize money worth Rs 98300 won by him was given away to charity. Mirchi plans to bring in other celebrities who will not only play the game but will co-host it with the jocks and quiz the lucky wild card entries on air.

Says Mirchi Cluster Business Head, Karnataka and Kerala, Rahul Balyan, "There is always a Mirchi twist in everything we do. We wanted to turn the typical game show format on its head and have fun with it. The number of SMSs and the call-ins that we have been getting in for Double Dharode is huge and we are happy that people are enjoying it. Listeners can look forward to many more twists on-air on this contest."
