Music India to launch India's first Bhojpuri music channel
MUMBAI: Media Worldwide, which runs Hindi music channel Music India and Bangla music channel Sangeet Bangla, is set to launch a Bhojpuri music channel on 14 July.
Sangeet Bhojpuri will be the first music channel in Bhojpuri language.
The back-to-back music format of Sangeet Bhojpuri will be same as Music India. It will have "simply music" round the clock.
"The Bhojpuri music industry is emerging, but so far there was no platform availabe for it. We believe Sangeet Bhojpuri will give a boost to the singers as well as the industry," says Media Worldwide CEO Prashant Chothani. Sangeet Bhojpuri will cater to the audience choices across classics, evergreen melodies and latest film and pop music.
Approximately 270 million people speak Bhojpuri all over the world, apart from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkand.
"The demand for Bhojpuri content is not restricted to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but goes beyond to other cities which have a large number of migrants. Sangeet Bhojpuri will be a free-to-air channel and we are going to see that it gets distributed widely on cable networks," says Chothani.
