Sony Music India signs deal with upcoming band Yellow Diary

MUMBAI: Sony Music India just announced an exclusive recording and management deal with an upcoming band The Yellow Diary. Yellow Diary is a five-member band, genre-agnostic, music collective. It is a one of its kind band to occupy a sound that can be best defined as alternative rock creating music that is commercial, original and has the freshness of sounds that is much needed.

The all-boy band members come from varied backgrounds but have one thing in common -- their passion for music. With a blend of electronic music and rock, they are touted to be a compositional powerhouse.

Former naval cadet Rajan Batra, the lead vocalist, and lyricist for the band infuses his melodies with Indian Classical music in a contemporary manner. Himonshu Parikh is on keyboards and is responsible for production, samples and backing vocals. His musical experience adds to the sophistication that helps further fine-tune the lyrics. Being multi-lingual, the lyrics are personal - creating tracks that speak to one’s soul.

Vaibhav Pani and Stuart DaCosta bring their magic through guitar and bass respectively. Pani is a former MNC employee who got back to his true calling as a musician with a fresh perspective on the strings, while Stuart is the groovy 'un-pushing sonic boundaries on his Gibson’ with occasional synth. Adding to this creative crew is Sahil Shah on drums who uses an eclectic blend of jazz and modern drum theory, producing beats that make The Yellow Diary tracks truly memorable. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

In no time the band has created a loyal fan-base and with this association, plans to increase the same. Says Sony Music – Pop Head Rohan Jha, “We have always believed in discovering and nurturing new talent, which helps us bring new and unique sounds to music aficionados. The music of Yellow Diary is bound to capture peoples’ attention and imagination, and we see this band’s amalgamation of rock and contemporary sounds bring a relatively niche genre of music to the masses.”

Adding on, The Yellow Diary said, “We are thrilled to be working with the number one label in the country. This is a dream collaboration for us. We believe Sony Music understands our music aesthetics and our sensibilities are similar. Together, we are sure to create some of the biggest music milestones.”

Very soon the music label will be announcing their first release with The Yellow Diary together.
