'Maids of Noida' hold a special place in Salaam Namaste studio

MUMBAI: Salaam Namaste, a Noida based community radio station (CRS) is doing something extremely unique. The radio station has been going out of its way to get the community closer. They are not just focusing on one class or creed, but every person. And, going by their motto of reaching every member of the society, Salaam Namaste team approached the maids.

They are the ones we hardly think of. We never really pay much heed to them till our daily chores are taking care of by them. They are the ones who keep our homes spick and span but usually, go unnoticed. Salaam Namaste recent made an effort to bring them, the maids, to notice through their special program.

The show is titled, ‘Maids on Mike -Subah Ki Pehli Ghanti Maid Didi’ and it airs every Sunday from 12 pm to 1 pm. The working maids are the ones to be featured on the show. Since we know that they usually have a busy schedule, they remove sometime after they’ve met their duties to be on the show.

The program brings their untold stories like where they hail from, their aspirations, what they like and how they weave love in their daily work routine. How working for every day may bring lethargy to them but also makes them part of a family and an important member of the family.

This show aims at getting them out of their shell. To shed the line of hesitation, meet the world share their issues and seek solutions. The team not only has on-air programs but also on-ground activities for the women to engage and gain self-confidence.

They are a part of evening classes which includes art and craft, computer, music, English speaking classes and more to enhance their skills. The women are also given a chance to exhibit their best out of waste products during the festive season and earn a little money with happiness.

The most interesting fact about the program is that the owners of residence and co-operates have also joined hands with the Salaam Namaste team for the on-ground activities.

To usher more motivation, awards and reward based programs will be conducted to appreciate their incomparable work.
