Radio Mirchi celebrates 11 years with audiobook

MUMBAI: Celebrating 11 years of entertaining listeners, Radio Mirchi's Mumbai station celebrated the occasion with the launch of special audiobooks for children.

In association with the National Association for Blind, the station under its initiative 'Bol Story Bol' launched a series of 11 books comprising of short stories recorded by the RJs along with a host of celebrities including Richa Chadda, Hard Kaur, Meiyang Chang and more.

The books are a mix of Lokkathas and fiction. Stories having a specific inclination to be heard were chosen for the initiative.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com on the initiative, Radio Mirchi VP and cluster head-Mumbai Preeti Nihalani said, "It was long back that we took a step towards the cause for visually impaired kids and this fits in very well with what we do. We have earlier released an audio movie for visually challenged children. This is a step towards that. The easiest option is to celebrate and party. But since the audience gives us so much love, this was the best way to give it back to the society."

The occasion hosted by Mirchi jock Prackriti also witnessed the RJs and guests cut a special cake as Kaur sang 'Party Abhi Baaki Hai'.

Present at the occasion were Nihalani, Kaur, Chang and Chadda along with RJs Meera, Suren, Aniket, Sangeeta and Jeeturaaj.

The station aims to carry forward the initiative as they rope in more celebrities to record the stories.
