Will.i.am admits using DJ Arty's song for 'Let's Go'

MUMBAI: Rapper will.i.am has admitted that he used the track of Russian producer and DJ Arty for his new song ‘Let's Go', for his new album ‘#willpower’ which was released on 23 April.

'Let’s Go' was released as a single on 16 April while Arty and Mat Zo's 'Rebound' was released in April 2011.

Comparison of DJ Arty’s ‘Rebound’ and will.i.am’s track featuring Chris Brown, 'Rebound' revealed the songs to be identical justifying DJ Arty’s accusations on the internet.

"Arty is a dope producer so I wrote this song to 'Rebound' this last year. I got in touch with Arty and showed it to him, did a different version to it 'cause I asked him [to] make it newer 'cause I don't just wanna take your song and rap over it," will.i.am said.

But he said that after a year's time, "we preferred writing over and using the [original] rebound. Something happened and the clearance... hopefully we resolved the issue."

Arty had claimed in Twitter posts on 16 April that no one from will.i.am's team had worked out a deal for the tracks through his label, Anjunabeats.

Since its release, "Let's Go" has over 750,000 views and 14,000-plus comments already on YouTube, many of them negative.

will.i.am’s 18-track album has received positive if not enthusiastic reviews from critics mainly getting three- star rating.
