MUMBAI: One Direction, Adele, Alicia Keys and Calvin Harris are among the top Sony Music artists nominated for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
With two albums released in 2012, One Direction received 10 nominations in 8 categories including Top Artist.
Other nominees include Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Casting Crowns, Chris Brown, Romeo Santos and Usher (with two nods each), plus Juan Magan (feat. Pitbull & El Cata), Michel Teló, Miguel, Pitbull, Roger Waters and Shakira, with one nod apiece.
The Billboard Awards recognize chart-topping artists, albums, and singles from a wide variety of genres including Pop, R&B, Rock, Alternative, Latin and EDM—a first this year. Winners will be chosen based on data measuring album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social media interactions.
The ceremony, which takes place on 19 May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will be broadcast live at 8/7c on ABC.
