'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' music released

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s reigning stars gathered in full strength for the music launch of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (YPD 2).

In attendance were Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher who lent their support for the film which releases on 7 June. Also present at the occasion were Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Rakesh Roshan, Kunal Kohli, and Juhi Chawla amongst others.

The fast paced comedy film’s cast comprises of Bollywood’s legendary action hero Dharmendra and his sons- Sunny and Bobby Deol- who find themselves in an endless series of comic and action situations. Other stars of the film are Kher, Neha Sharma and Johnny Lever.

The glamour value of the event went to an entirely different level when celebrities including the star cast of the film -- Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol -- danced to the tunes of ‘Main aida hi nachna’ song from the film along with veteran actor Dharmendra.

In lighter vein, Dharmendra said: "I have always wanted to say this and today everyone is there including the media. I want to say that I am the no. 1 dancer. My son Sunny has planned a special song for me, `Main aida hi nachna`."

Dharmendra, who is playing a big role in the film, thanked his colleagues from the film industry for always being there to support him.

"I am so happy for the love and respect which they give me. They all meet me so nicely.

"Today, whatever I am is because of their love. I wish them all the best and a long life. They should have good films and success should come to them," said the veteran actor.

The music, directed by upcoming duo Sharib-Toshi follows the formula of its predecessor ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ - a surprise hit of 2011 raking in moolah at the box office.

The music of YPD 2 is characterized by fun, loud, boisterous songs with a heavy dose of Bhangra- and electronic dance beats- perfectly suited for the film’s frantic pace and exotic locations (the film has 11 foreign locales).

The duo have roped in an array of the industry’s top playback singers including Mika Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan among others with vocal contributions from the Deol family.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com at the launch Sharib Toshi said they were under no pressure to match the success of the prequel and were given a free hand on how to compose the eight songs of the film.

“We had the freedom to compose the music and were neither under any influence or pressure during the project. We hope the film is a super hit and people like our music.  We had no reservations on any of the tracks and just hoped it turned out well.”

The heavy dance tunes should go well with fast-paced comedy of YPD franchise.

“Most of the songs are fun and dance oriented but we also have composed one ballad- for the engagement scene, a love song,” Toshi said.
