Worlds most dynamic DJ celebration returns Global Spin Awards 2013

MUMBAI: Bad Boy Records/Power Moves inc executive, Shawn Prez, return with the 2nd annual Global Spin Awards an award show that honors and recognizes the world’s most dynamic and talented DJ’s (Disc Jockey) for their contribution to the culture of music and entertainment: past, present and future. The award show is scheduled to take place on Monday 18 November 2013 at the New York Times center in Manhattan, NY.

GSAs founder, Shawn Prez, was able to capture the attention of many during the 1st annual GSAs in 2012 as all reputable DJ’s and music industry executives came out in full support. All in attendance dressed in suit, ties and their best shoe game hitting the red carpet in style. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs started the night off with his inaugural speech, cosigning the event and thanking all the DJ’s for their dedication and continued support in the music industry.

“Throughout my career I've formed long lasting relationships with the world’s most talented DJs. I’ve never understood the lack of recognition given to DJs for their continued influence on national and international musical currents and culture. The GSAs were created to fill the void and finally honor the DJs exclusively for their achievements, among their peers. Simply put, DJs deserve their own version of the Grammy’s,” says GSAs founder Shawn Prez.

From its commencement, 19 November 2012, The GSAs have been classified as the Quality Standard of DJ Recognition by music industry heavy weights. In attendance for the 2012 Global Spin Awards were DJ’s such as DJ Kid Capri (New York, NY), DJ Funkmaster Flex (New York, NY), DJ ILL Will (Los Angeles, CA), DJ Irie (Miami FL), DJ Stevie J (Miami FL), DJ Drama (Atlanta, GA), DJ Green Lantern (Atlanta, GA), DJ V Dub (Chicago IL) and DJ DimePiece (Chicago IL), just to name a few who were winners of the night while a host of others aligned.

Television and radio personality Sway Calloway hosted last year’s GSAs and will be on board for the 2013 festivities. Calloway is an icon of hip-hop culture and a pivotal part of the MTV News team, Sway has been a staple of the music-news arena for more than a decade. From giving Eminem and Notorious B.I.G. their very first radio airplay on his local show in the mid-'90s to providing television viewers with their first good look at J. Lo's pink engagement ring from Ben Affleck in an exclusive MTV news interview, Sway has been there for some of music's biggest moments.

The GSAs will honor Afrika Bambaataa and DJ Kid Capri recognizing both for their outstanding years of excellence in the music and DJ industries. Afrika Bambaataa, a DJ from the south Bronx New York, was instrumental in the early development of hip hop throughout the 1980s. He is one of the three originators of break-beat deejaying, and is respectfully known as the 'Godfather' and the Amen Ra of hip hop culture as well as the father of electro funk. DJ Kid Capri is a DJ from the Bronx, NY, known for his seven seasons of Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam. He’s also produced tracks for Boogie Down Productions, Heavy D, Grand Puba and Quincy Jones. He’s been featured in the movie 'Who’s The Man?' alongside many of today’s a-list actors and most recently has been featured as one of the lead host of Smirnoff’s Master Of The Mix reality tv show.
