MUMBAI: She surprised everyone when she crooned Ooh La la in The Dirty Picture. But on 20 September, it was the turn of Bollywood’s darling Shreya Ghoshal to be surprised and shocked.

Shreya who has signed up for a nine city tour of the US and Canada between 20 September and 6 October organised by US-based concert promoter Balaji Entertainment discovered that some of her baggage was missing when she landed in Washington DC for her concert there.

The normally vibrant Shreya was at her best when she boarded her aircraft from Mumbai. She tweeted: “Aboard aircraft.. See u US, Canada! Saat samandar par ho kar pohochenge kal.”

But then her cheery tweets turned to anguish when she landed in Washington DC. Tweeted she: “Still no trace of my baggage.. So upset at this utter carelessness by lufthansa. Gonna manage this tour with mismatched outfits.. Be ready.”

Her frustration continued through the day as she responded to a fan’s post a few hours before the show: “Have a show in a few hours. No luck with my baggage.”

The Washington concert like her tour had been sold out. However, post her initial agonized tweet there was total silence. It was not clear whether Lufthansa managed to find her baggage and get It to her on time for the Washington DC gig at the DAR constitution hall.

But it’s quite likely it did. Because fans were swooning over her performance during the evening . She performed quite a few old hit numbers and had audiences eating out of her hands. Said one of them: “That Entry. Those performances. Those oldies. Your outfits. Your gorgeous looks + singing. So perfect.”

Clearly, Shreya took the mishap in her stride and either got her luggage back or Balaji Entertainment managed to turnaround some quick costumes for her.

She is slated to perform in New Jersey on 21 September; Boston on 22 September; 27 September in San Jose; Los Angeles on 28 September; Seattle on 29 September; 4 October in Detroit; 5 October in Toronto and Montreal on 6 October.

Her colleague and soul sister Sunidhi Chauhan is on a UK tour at the same time. But she did not face any problems like Shreya did. Sunidhi is slated to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 27 September and in Machester on 21 September. She already performed at a gig on 20 September
in Leicester.
