Paul McCartney to join Goldfrapp at 6 Music Live event

MUMBAI: Music legend and former Beatles member Paul McCartney will join a star studded line up to play at the "6 Music Live" at Maida Vale. The festival which will be held from Monday 14 October to Friday 18 October will be hosted by Lauren Laverne.

U.S. band Polica who rose to fame last year, will open the sessions on the first day, while Goldfrapp will perform the following day. Sir Paul McCartney will take to the stage on Wednesday and will be followed by Manic Street Preachers on Thursday. Closing the week’s events will be first timers at the session Sigur Ros.

Laverne who announced the artist line-up on Friday said “A line-up of this calibre and range is one you'll only find on 6 Music." Referring to McCartney’s return to the famed studios where he previously played with his famous band the Beatles, she said “You can imagine how excited we are about this; there is nobody bigger and nobody better.”

Head of music for 6 Music Jeff Smith said, “To have such a diverse line-up including the world's most-loved singer songwriter is a dream come true."

Sir Paul McCartney is also due to release his latest album ‘New’ on 15 October which will feature unreleased material in 12 tracks.
