Times Music banks on spiritual genre for Q1 '08

Mumbai: Times Music plans to continue banking on its forte - spiritual and devotional music - in the first quarter of 2008.

The music label is coming up with a variety of catalogues in spiritual category, including a catalogue featuring Jagjit Singh singing devotional songs, and catalogues on Hindi scriptures (Picked up from the Vedas and Upanishads) with shlokas and hymns.

Also slated to release in the months of February and March 2008 are three or four compilations on lord Shiva. The market is probably going to house catalogues of music-therapy and music-healing promoted by Times Music this quarter. One album would be dedicated to Sai Baba and people could also get to choose from few releases in Sufi and Ghazal genres, say sources in the company.

In the classical segment, the company is set to promote both vocal and instrumental catalogues this quarter, including an album featuring the flute. Four catalogues would be released in the classical segment by the label. In addition, two to three pop albums would also be released too in this quarter featuring different artistes.

The awaited album in this quarter will be 'Chaand Parosa Hai', an album written by Gulzar, featuring Bhupinder and Mitali singing a few duets in the album. The husband wife duo will be teaming up after a gap of around seven years, in any music album.
