MUMBAI: If in 2014 the nation was charged with election fervour, 2019 is unprecedented. While every publication and news medium is making an effort to create awareness about the election which is planned phase wise, radio stations are no way behind. Considering the vote day in the state of Karnataka is on 18 April 2019 (which is different for each state), 92.7 BIG FM Bengaluru has come up with a unique way to sensitize public on the importance of voting.
Similar to its newly launched tagline, ‘Yochane Yaake Change Ok’, the radio station has launched Yochne Yaake Vote Ok, a campaign to create awareness around how every single vote matters. Making the campaign interesting the radio station has launched an exclusive rap video with the message about voting that features the ever-popular RJ Pradeepaa singing his very first rap song.
RJ Pradeepaa, whose show, Full Time Pass was recently launched, has addressed the pressing need of casting a vote, however, through a quirky appeal to the younger generation. It conveys the message of contributing towards development of the state and invites citizens above the age of 18 to take time out and cast their vote as each vote counts. The video stays neutral and doesn’t propagate for any one political party, but emphasize on the importance of the constitutional right of every citizen of the Republic of India to cast their vote.
Speaking about the importance of casting vote, RJ Pradeepaa said, "Every citizen has the fundamental right to vote and hence, I urge all the people to execute their power by choosing the right leader for our nation by going out there to vote. Although voting is the right thing to do, it has to come from within to utilize this right. All I want to say to everyone is 'Yochne Yaake, Vote Ok'. We must act responsibly and make an informed decision during the elections. We should do so to ensure a better society around us. Every vote makes a big difference to the country that we wish to see."
The video, starring technicians and the team at 92.7 BIG FM along with RJ Pradeepa, went live on social media pages of 92.7 BIG FM Bengaluru and has been receiving a positive response from the audience.
Another major RJ of Big FM is Shruthi, also known as Pat Pat Patak, hosts the regional version of Dhun Badalke Dekho originally hosted by Bollywood Superstar Vidya Balan. On the same show, RJ Shruthi too has urged people to cast their vote, just like she did for Vidhan Sabha elections in Karnataka in 2017.
