The music streaming app has released Game of Thrones 8 inspired playlist called Game of Thrones: The End Is Coming, which is a rock-influenced music list. Released on Spotify, the playlist is born out of collaboration between the Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and the music app, which debuted in India this year. “We were looking for songs that made us feel the way the show made us feel,” the duo told Spotify’s blog - For The Record.
The above playlist comprises of 51 songs of the popular series, thus hinting that apart from the show, its sound track is equally popular. Composer Ramin Djawadi’s captivating track provides the apt score for all the characters during their dramatic moments. But, it is Djawadi’s Light of the Seven track that holds the niche of being the most streamed track since 2016. This musical piece is heard during Season 6, when Cersei blows up the Sept of Baelor. It is followed by the main title of the Game of Thrones series and The Winds of Winter, which plays during the conclusion of Season 4, when Arya sales to Braavo.
Also, according to the figures shared by Spotify, since January 2016, the music streaming app has recorded about 380 million streams of all Game of Thrones soundtracks. The figures indeed boast of the popularity of sound tracks of the famous series. Additionally, the fan made playlists, by about 2,50,000 listeners, who have also created character playlists.
