AC/ DC to celebrate 40th anniversary with world tour
MUMBAI: 2014 will mark 40 years since the establishment of one of the greatest rock bands of all time- AC/ DC. And to celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Australian rockers are planning a special tour that will feature 40 shows worldwide. In addition to the tour, the band could possibly begin work on a new album this year as well.
The news came straight from frontman- Brian Johnson, during an interview with a Florida radio station. "We've been denying anything, 'cause we weren't sure…But I think we'll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready,"Johnson said. He also stated that the band was keeping a low profile of late because one of its members was ill.
If news of a new album is indeed true, it would make the upcoming release the band's first studio album in five years. AC/ DC's last album was 'Black Ice', which was released in 2008.
Along with hinting towards a fresh record, the 66 year old singer/ lyricist revealed a few details about the band's 40th anniversary celebrations. "It's been 40 years of the band's existence," he added. "So I think we're gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them.”
AC/ DC's last toured four years ago after the release of their 15 th studio album- 'Black Ice', which was certified Multi Platinum in eight countries and sold over 6.5 million copies.
