Green Day to offer special release at this year's Record Store Day
It has been a little over a year since punk rock band Green Day's last release, a trilogy album titled- 'iUno! iDos! iTre!'. However, fans of the American rockers might not have to wait much longer for the band to release new music. A post on the band's official Facebook page claims they will release new material during this year's Record Store Day.
The post states that Billie Joe Armstrong and company will release 18 demos during the music retail event. It will include an unreleased track, previously recorded during their Uno, Dos and Tre sessions. However, they have not detailed whether the tracks will be released as multiple releases or a single release.
As long time supporters of the annual event, the post did state that the exclusive release would be out on coloured vinyl. The tracks will also be available on CDs and cassettes, according to the post. The announcement was also made on the band's Twitter account.
Green Day recently put on an impromptu gig at a local pub in Sydney. The band is currently in Australia, where they will be headlining the Soundwave Festival 2014. Just a little before they could take the stage at the small club, the band let its fans know about the gig via a Twitter post that said, "hello Aussie! Green Day is playing tonight at a club called Captain Cook Hotel TONIGHT in Sydney. I repeat, TONIGHT! Feb 20th around 11:00pm"
The band has, several times in the past, contributed to Record Store Day with exclusive releases. The one day event celebrates the independently owned record store culture around the world and is held every year on the third Saturday of April. This year's event will be held on 19 April.
