Lalit Pandit and Kapil Sibal collaborate for Punjabi album

MUMBAI: After writing lyrics for the music of Bollywood film ‘Bandook’ and for a Hindi album ‘Raunaq’, Union Minister Kapil Sabil will be penning lyrics for a Punjabi album. And composing the music for the album is Bollywood music composer Lalit Pandit.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Pandit said, "Kapil Sibalji is planning a Punjabi album. He plans to rope in the best top Punjabi singers and I will compose it. There will be few tracks from Daler Mehndi as well." Pandit added that the album will have eight to nine tracks. He further added, "The music has been recorded; now the singers have to be finalised."

The music connection between Pandit and Sibal started when Pandit used to occasionally meet the minister to exchange his view on the Copyright issue way before it was amended. "We (other musicians) used to meet him very often then. At the time, he mentioned that he writes poems and he requested us to listen to few of them. When I got a film offer I decided to use his lyrics." ‘Pehchan’ is the tentative title of the film for which Sibal has given the lyrics. The film has six songs and the tracks are in the recording process. The album will consist three romantic tracks and a peppy/item song. "The peppy number is not vulgar but enriched with words. Neeti Mohan and Sonu Nigam will be duet for this particular track."

Pandit is also planning his own album where fans will be able to hear him sing and compose. He hopes that his association with Sibal will be a long-term one. "I appreciate his work and I would like him to write more lyrics." He is also working on few of untitled films.
