One Direction's Harry Styles and rock band Kodaline co-wrote love song
MUMBAI: Harry Styles of One Direction has reportedly penned an "unrequited" love song with Irish indie rock band Kodaline. The 'Love Like This' hitmakers revealed that last month Styles was in the recording studio with them. However, the band did admit that they are unsure if the track will actually see an official release.
In an interview, Kodaline guitarist Mark Pendergrast said, "Harry Styles came to two of our shows and he's a big fan, and we ended up going to the studio and writing a song together. He's a really good lad." The band went on to say that the One Direction heartthrob was a very good writer and singer, and termed him as "very funny" as well.
Pendergrast also added that the band was surprised to learn that 'X Factor' judge Nicole Scherzinger was a fan. The guitarist said, "We did a show in LA and we're in this big old theatre and it was a mad show. Nicole Scherzinger came along. We heard she might be coming and we were like, 'No, she's not coming'. Then I could see her from the stage and I was like, 'Jesus, there she is'. Apparently she's a huge fan, she emailed our manager asking for tickets and she listens to the album a lot."
The Dublin based band includes Steve Garrigan (vocals, keyboards, harmonica), Jason Boland (bass), Vinny May (drums, percussion) and Mark Prendergast (lead guitar). The band is currently playing in Australia and will be performing at a few festivals this year including Glastonbury Festival in June and 2014 Belsonic in August.
