Top winners at Billboard Music Awards: Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons and Robin Thicke

MUMBAI: Pop superstar Justin Timberlake took home the most gongs at the Billboard Music Awards which was held on Sunday night. The 'Rock You're Body' singer won seven awards in a number of categories including Top Male Artist, Top Artist and top Billboard 200 album for his 2013 release 'The 20/20 Experience'.

Coming in next with five wins was alternative rockers Imagine Dragons, who have had a very successful debut year. The Las Vegas band won for Top Duo/Group, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album and Top Streaming Song (Radioactive). The four-member band also performed the track 'Tiptoe' from their 2012 album 'Night Visions' at the event.

Another big winner on the night was 'Blurred Lines' collaborators- Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I, who won four awards for the megahit. The trio took home awards in the categories- Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Radio Song and Top R&B Song.

Winning two Billboard Music awards for Top New Artist and Top Rock Song was 17 year old Lorde for her hit track 'Royals', which won her two Grammys earlier this year. Dressed in all black, the New Zealand native also performed her song 'Tennis Court' at the ceremony.

Other winners on the night included Katy Perry for Top Female Artist and Top Digital Songs Artist, Eminem for Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album (The Marshall Mathers LP 2), Daft Punk for Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Album for (Random Access Memories).

Swedish DJ- Avicii won for Top Electronic/ Dance Song (Wake Me Up), while popstar Miley Cyrus won for Top Streaming Artist. Country singer Carrie Underwood got the most number of fan votes for Milestone Award and the Icon Award for lifetime achievement went to Jennifer Lopez.

The event saw a number of performances by top music acts including Shakira, Ariana Grande, rapper Iggy Azalea, Florida Georgia Line with Luke Bryan, Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte. In addition to pre-recorded performances by Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, the ceremony also saw a performance by a Michael Jackson hologram to the track 'Slave to the Rhythm', which is part of his posthumous album 'Xscape'.
