Lata Mangeshkar writes to Narendra Modi

MUMBAI: Not long ago, veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, expressed her desire to see Narendra Modi become the Prime Minister of India. Her wish ultimately got fulfilled on 16 May when Modi was declared as India's new PM. As the day for his swearing-in came closer, invitations went out to the people who were close to him. And of course that guest list included the name of the 'Nightingale of India'- Lata Mangeshkar.

However, the songstress will not be attending the oath ceremony, for which she immediately decided to write a letter to the 'would be Prime Minister'. She wrote that due to poor health, she would not be a part of D-Day and since he would handle the reins of India, she sent him a gift. Modi expressed his gratitude by posting the letter on Twitter and wrote, "Thank you Lata Didi. As always, your greetings and best wishes inspire me deeply."

Even after the elections were declared and Modi emerged victorious, the 84 year old took to her Twitter account and said, "Namaskar. Narendrabhai Modi ji ,aap ko bohot bohot badhaai. Desh ki janata ne ab apna bhavishya aap ke haath me diya hai. Tathastu."

Popular Bollywood singer Bappi Lahiri, is said to be attending the ceremony, along with other noted celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Mukesh Ambani.
