Adam Levine filmed 'Begin Again' free of cost
MUMBAI: It is not every day that a celebrity would spend weeks shooting a film and not charge for it. But that is exactly what Adam Levine did for his new film 'Begin Again'. The Maroon 5 frontman revealed recently that he did the movie absolutely free.
Speaking with USA Today, the 35 year old singer/ songwriter said, "I did this movie for no money. I'm very lucky that I'm in that position." Levine, in the film, plays Dave, a musician who signs a deal with a big label company, and leaves his college sweetheart- Gretta, who is played by British actress Keira Knightley.
Levine went on to say, "I want to have good experiences. I don't want to do a bunch of s*** that I hate." He went on to say that he wanted to treat his acting completely different from his music. "I have the very fortunate luxury of not having to think of this in terms of money," he added.
Although he has acted before, this will be Levine's very first feature film. The Grammy winner previously featured in American Horror Story: Asylum and on 30 Rock as a musical guest. 'Begin Again' which is directed by John Carney also stars Mark Ruffalo. The musical romantic-comedy- drama film released in the US on 27 June and will be out later in other countries.
Meanwhile, Levine along with his pop rock band Maroon 5, recently released a new track 'Maps' from their upcoming album which will be released through Interscope Records.
