Shekhar Ravjiani's launches his fourth single - 'Hanuman Chalisa'

MUMBAI: Renowned composer, Shekhar Ravjiani, from the Vishal Shekhar duo is all set to launch a single, an app and a book based on a hymn. The composer will come up with his own interpretation of the 'Hanuman Chalisa'. His decision of the fourth single came after his first three singles doing extremely well. 'Saazni' and 'Savli' were in Marathi, whilst the third single 'Butterfly' was in Telugu.

"Butterfly was the only non-film song playing on the radio charts and that opened my eyes to the fact that the Internet is a great platform to reach out to a wider audience. I didn't know a word of Marathi or Telugu and in the process learnt two more languages. For my fourth single I decided on the 'Hanuman Chalisa'. It's something I wanted to do, something my grandmother would have wanted me to do," said Ravjiani to Mumbai Mirror.

He took to his Twitter account to announce his upcoming release saying, "Happy to share with you all, a glimpse of my fourth single, The Hanuman Chalisa."

Shekhar, a staunch Hanuman follower, visits the temple every Saturday to offer his prayers to the deity and has also come up with a video which is directed by Vishal Punjabi. The video has sketched and digitised avatars.

The app for the hymn can be downloaded on mobile phones and can be read in English and Hindi. Also one can obtain a pocket size booklet which is not a mere translation of the 'Chalisa' but also the meaning of it.
