New jazz album by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett to release this September

MUMBAI: Lady Gaga is switching up her genre from pop to jazz, after announcing a full jazz album with veteran jazz singer and 17 time Grammy winner- Tony Bennett. The album, titled 'Cheek to Cheek' has been in the works for a long time now and will finally see a release on 23 September this year.

The album is said to have been recorded in New York and will feature a number of classic jazz tracks including 'It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got That Swing)', 'Lush Life' and 'Sophisticated Lady'. The upcoming release will also include Cole Porter's 'Anything Goes'. The track is already available on iTunes, and a studio version of the video has been uploaded on Youtube.

During a visit to the 'Today' show, the duo commented on their latest work. “I love the way she sings. She's a wonderful person,” Bennett said of the pop singer, while she added, “He's a legend, and it's a total honor to be singing with him. He's really changed my life, asking me to sing with him."

'Cheek to Cheek' will not be the first time that the 87 year old jazz singer and 28 year old pop superstar have collaborated. The two previously covered one of the most popular jazz tracks 'The Lady Is a Tramp' for Bennett's 2011 release 'Duets II'.

This will be Gaga's first album release since 'Artpop' which was released last year. Bennett's last release was also a collaborative album, called 'Viva Duets' which featured Latin singers and was released in 2012.
