Former Indian Ocean member Susmit Sen to unveil album soon

MUMBAI: After unveiling a solo album in 2011 'Depths of the Ocean', former Indian Ocean member Susmit Sen is planning the launch of yet another album titled 'Ocean to Ocean'. The six member band- 'The Susmit Sen Chronicles' will be releasing the album under Songdew.
Sen revealed that the album will contain seven tracks out of which four will be more instrumental in nature. "Out of seven songs only three will have lyrics' in them. They are not really instrumental in nature but there are vocals which are used as instruments."
The album has collaboration with Hungarian Piano-accordionist Zoltán Oros and Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Mardsen. 'Bongingon' features Zoltán Oros which has crossed 30K play and Bernie Mardsen features in a track called 'Ocean to Ocean'.
Talking about the track with 'Bernie Mardsen', Sen said, "I meet him when I went to France a couple of years ago. We decided that we should collaborate and I introduced him to my music and he liked it. Then we went for a Mumbai and Delhi concert tour at the beginning of last year. That was the time, he told me that he wants to record with me and that is the time he came down to my studio and recorded his part. I developed on it and it turned out to be a composition." Sen decided to name the album after the same track.
Sen who has been performing at various venues back to back said, "Each composition is different and has its own feel. Each number is completely different. We played lot of live gigs before we came out with our album. Live does make a difference because you check those tracks in front of the audience. There are certain tracks that were tested." Out of the seven, only two compositions were not tested on audiences.
Sen hinted that they are open to gigs to promote the album and might also plan a video in the future. When asked if they have partnered with MTV Indies and his view about the channel, Sen said, "It is good initiative and it will do lot of good to lot of musicians. Their reach needs to increase as it is not that much."
Although he does not believe in different genres, Sen has tried mix of music on his new album.
Sen quit the famous band 'Indian Ocean' to start his own band 'The Susmit Sen Chronicles' last June. The Chronicles comprises VarunGupta (Tabla), Anirban Ghosh (Bass Guitars), Nikhil Vasudevan (Percussions), Amit Sharma (Vocals) and Sudhir Rikhari (Vocals).
