Scribe finally set to release 'Hail Mogambo', to play at NH7 this year

MUMBAI: Mumbai-based extreme hardcore metal band Scribe is back with a new album after more than three years. Undoubtedly one of the most popular heavy music bands in the city, they bring a complete package of talent and super-high energy levels on stage. Their fans have been desperately waiting for the release of 'Hail Mogambo', the band's third album, for more than two years now.

In 2008, Scribe released the album 'Confect' after which they decided to create a concept album. This led to 'Mark of Teja' in 2010, which could not contain the number of songs the members had in mind. They eventually decided to dissect it into three albums, making it a trilogy. 'Hail Mogambo' is a sequel to 'Mark of Teja' and will be released in September. The tracklist has been shared by Scribe on their Facebook page and fans are more than excited for its release. With over a dozen songs, the album will include tracks like 'Cops, cops', 'Calendar Khana Lao', 'Tomato Aryabhatta' and others.

As the name suggests, this album is also a reference to one of the most dangerous villains in Bollywood- 'Mogambo'. Akshay Rajpurohit, guitarist of Scribe, says, "Mark of Teja was about five villainous businessmen who spread a virus 'Teja' and people inflicted by it are out to take revenge. This leads to chaos in our fictional universe. So, the upcoming album is a continuation of the events of our previous album."

'Mark of Teja' brought the band immense fame and recognition due to its eccentric theme and witty lyrics. Their most popular track is 'I Love You, Pav Bhaji', that the audience can never seem to get enough of, driving them mad at every live performance. After bagging a few awards at Rolling Stone Metal Awards in 2010, they went to perform at the Inferno Metal Festival in Norway.

Scribe is notoriously known for its antics on stage and getting the crowd to go ballistic by crowd-surfing, hardcore 'moshing' and stage-diving. They also bring humour to stage, something quite unfamiliar in the 'metal' category. This is the courtesy of lead vocalist Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, who is also a voice artiste, producer and director with multiple projects in his bag.

Rajpurohit says, "The band is made up of a bunch of insane and crazy guys. We are funny people who play brutal and intense music. We just want people to have fun at our gigs and not put up a façade."

Speaking about the sound of the album, Rajpurohit says, "It will essentially be the same but, more epic and grandiose. We have taken the essence of the character of Mogambo; though, it has nothing to do with the villain himself."

Recorded by Kuber Sharma and mixed co-operatively by Scribe and Keshav Dhar, the album is definitely bound to be a hit. The band is also in the process of shooting a music video which will possibly be released before the album launch. The guitarist also revealed that they will be playing at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year but, did not disclose which city they will be playing in.
