Neeti Mohan: I did not expect 'Tune Mari Entriyaan' to be a chartbuster

MUMBAI: 'Jiya Re' singer Neeti Mohan recently delivered the hit 'Tune Mari Entriyaan' from the film 'Gunday', post which she rendered her vocals for films like 'Citylights', 'Kick' and 'Happy New Year' (HNY). The film 'Happy New Year', which saw its music released on 15 September, is all set to hit silver screens on 24 October 2014.

Mohan has sung a couple of songs, 'Indiawale' and 'Manwalage-World Dance Medley' in the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer HNY. "I strongly connect to these kinds of songs as they are full of energy and they give you such a positive vibe. The song 'Indiawale' is extremely patriotic yet beautiful," said the singer.

Talking about the brief of the song Mohan said, "If you watch the song, the girl (Deepika Padoukone) is dreaming and since my part is soft, I was told to sound beautiful. I was just asked to feel the lyrics and thankfully I have received an overwhelming response from my listeners." The lyrics of the song have been penned by Irshad Kamil and the music is composed by Vishal Shekhar.

So does she expect 'Indiawale' to be as big a chartbuster as 'Tune Mare Entriyaan' to which she said, "I really did not expect 'Tune Mari Entriyaan' to be a chartbuster. With 'Indiawale' the track is just released and the promos of the film also revolve around it, so I have high hopes."

Although she has sung a few peppy tracks, the 28 year old admitted she enjoys singing melodies. "One song which is extremely close to my heart is 'Darbadar' from the film 'Citylights'. I thank the composer Jeet Gannguli from the bottom of my heart for choosing my voice for the song. When I recorded the track, I felt that I left myself somewhere," she concluded.
