Garth Brooks launches very own digital music service GhostTunes

MUMBAI: Country music singer Garth Brooks, who has so far shied away from making his music available via digital retailers, has announced his very own digital music provider. Called GhostTunes, Brooks' digital music service will include his entire catalogue of all his songs and albums.

At a press conference where he was introducing the new online music service, the Grammy winner said, “Today, with all the scared-ness in my soul, all the love in my heart for music, an alternative for digital music sale is online right now.”

Brooks also explained how his music service would differ from some of the current online music services. Speaking on the manner in which GhostTunes will function he said, “First, the music is however the artist or the label that owns that artists' work wants it sold. Second, it doesn't go on the 70-30 split that digital music is on right now, it's on a much more flexible scale. You can play it on any device you want the second you get it. So no more territorial stuff."

Music acts that have made their music available on GhostTunes include Coldplay, Maroon 5, Ariana Grande, Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley. The service is also offering a digital pack called 'The Bundle' that is priced at $29.99 and enables Brooks' fans to buy his 1998 Double Live album, his first eight studio albums, and even pre-order his upcoming two albums.

On 3 September, the 52 year old singer released 'People Loving People', the first single from his upcoming album, which will be launched on Black Friday. The album will be Brooks' first release consisting of original music since his 2001 album 'Scarecrow'.
