MUMBAI: After completing 395 hours of nonstop RJing, on 31 August at 7 pm, 95 FM Tadka aims to extend their record to 1,000 hours. The Rajasthan based radio station, had first registered its name in the Limca Book book in 2012 for a record 195 hours of continuous RJing.
Talking to Radioandmusic.com about the idea behind going live for surpassing their own record, FM Tadka Programming Head Praveen Sharma said, "We decided to go live on our anniversary and wished to give something back to our listeners. We went live on 15 August 8 am and there are six RJs who work round the clock. " The RJ team that will take charge of the nonstop RJing mission comprises RJ Sachin, RJ Zoya, RJ Devangana, RJ Kriti, RJ Sameer and RJ Swati.
Sharma admits that initially it was a little difficult for the RJs to work round the clock. "The first two days were extremely difficult for the RJs, as your body takes a while to adapt to the schedule. But when you plan something as a team you always do it and then there is no backing out," he said.
The radio station gets approximately 260 people calling up during the night. Sharma also revealed that sometimes listeners called up just to check if the station was really live during the nights or whether it was a recording left on. "We also hear a lot from celebs like Prasoon Joshi, Dabboo Ratnani, Sonu Kakkar, Khushboo Grewal, Palak Muchhal and many more congratulating us for the feat," said Sharma.
Owing to the number of live hours, FM Tadka has been getting a very good response from the people and has gone up in terms of listenership numbers. FM Tadka has also witnessed a rise in revenues. "With our station having so many hours of live content, we have witnessed a 30-40 per cent rise in the revenues," elaborated Sharma.
The station has registered its name for Guinness Book of World Records and is also planning a few new initiatives for the festival of Diwali. The radio station also plans an expansion after the announcement of Phase III.
