MUMBAI: Froggies will not always have to hop over to Mumbai, Pune or Delhi to enjoy the blueFROG experience, because the music club will soon be reaching other Metropolitan cities. First on the list to add a blueFROG venue is Bengaluru, which will happen by the end of this year.

blueFROG creative director and co-founder Mahesh Mathai confirmed the development. He said, "We want more blueFROG venues and we will have one in Bengaluru by the end of the year. We are also looking forward to having venues in Kolkata and Chennai." However, talks for those are still in the early stages. "Three of our venues have helped us get bigger artistes, especially international artistes in past few years. We will continue with the trend throughout all our venues," he added.

Mathai also stressed that blueFROG will continue promoting non-film music in India. Mathai has been in the music for more than a decade and has been associated with names like Lucky Ali and Bombay Vikings. He said, "There are many music festivals today in India than ever before. 10-15 years ago, we were not used to listening to live music but today, things have changed. Today, the music business has become more organised but there are no enough artistes. "

He also indicated that blueFROG will be looking at getting slightly bigger names along with promoting upcoming talents.

Currently, the venue is launching a campaign called ‘Live Music Live'. It will showcase to music lovers the versatility of Indian Classical Music and its ability to fuse with global music. Firstly, it aims to bring together Indian classical musicians and artistes from other Indian and International genres on a common platform like blueFROG to experiment with and create new sounds. Secondly, it allows upcoming Indian contemporary acts to share the stage with established artistes and learn from this exchange.

The first act of this quarterly campaign debuts live on the 21 of August at blueFROG, Lower Parel. It is curated by eminent Sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee and renowned percussionist Ustad Taufiq Qureshi who along with Belgian Saxaphonist and world music explorer Manuel Hermia, will take the stage and create rhythmic magic.

Mathai said, "We want people to take that time out and come and see what is going on in India in the world of music. It is a great time for independent music with the boundaries between genres melting. What is emerging is catching the world's notice."
