MUMBAI: Polluted air, trees uprooted and oil spill in the sea are the elements that are destroying mother earth. There is lot to complain about but very few take an initiative to protect it. On World Environment Day (WED), Radio City and BIG FM stations in India are not only talking about it but also taking action to make a difference.

BIG FM targets cities like Kanpur and Bangalore with different initiatives on WED. BIG FM's Kanpur campaign called 'Chhora Ganga Kinare Wala' which is a 10 day long initiative and is hosted live from Ganga Ghat by RJ Sid from 5 June. The most sacred river Ganga which is also one of the dirtiest rivers in India will be the studio for RJ Sid. The RJ will talk about the attempts to restore hygiene as well as holiness of the river with help of his listeners. All the progress of the campaign will be aired on a daily basis.

RJ Sid will also invite local authorities, listeners, NGOs, school kids as well as some prominent personalities on his live show to discuss the issues they face while cleaning the Ghat and the necessary action required to strengthen the initiative.

Radio Mirchi Mumbai invited writer and founding editor of Sanctuary Asia Bittu Sahgal to discuss with Mumbaikars on how environment can be saved.

Radio City will give away saplings to the listeners in different societies across all the cities. It will also air special capsules where the RJs will talk about few simple steps which could help make a difference. Radio City experts will give out tips on how one can contribute their bit to save the environment.

Radio City and BIG FM plan to create awareness on the digital platforms as well.
