MUMBAI: This May, LIVE Viacom 18 in association with Vh1 will kick off the third edition of its property VDOT EMERGE, which is a fusion of dubstep and electronic dance music. It will be a five-city gig that will see performances by Engine-Earz Experiment- a UK BASS collective and DJ ASA, who has become a popular name on the electronic music front.
With the underground property, LIVE Viacom 18 aims to not only inspire engagement, but also to create a platform for Indian audiences to experience different genres of music from all over the world. The gigs have been curated in a way that bridges the gap between India and the global music scenario.
Speaking about the underground music festival, Viacom18 INS SVP and business head Jaideep Singh said, "Today's youth are well aware of the developments in the global music scenario. Along with a growing popularity of the acclaimed artists, there is also a rise in underground music. Live events are gaining prominence as the audience enjoys engaging with their favourite artists and getting up close and personal. The aim of VDOT EMERGE is to fulfil this need and expose music lovers to a wide range of genres from the international music scene."
Commenting on the association, SVP and GM, English Entertainment, Viacom18 Media, Ferzad Palia said, "VDOT EMERGE is a dedicated platform that does not only showcase international talent in India but creates fresh and unique experiences that music lovers can take back with them as well as reminisce through the channel when it airs on Vh1."
The first two editions of the festival brought together folk musician Jeremy Loops and American band Dinner and a Suit for several live performances. In addition to live performances, the third will also engage with audiences on air, making it a whole new experience.
The five-city gig will kick off on 21st May in Mumbai, after which it will travel to Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Kolkata, and end on 30th May.
