PRS for Music appoints Stephen Davidson

MUMBAI: UK based Copyright collection society PRS for Music has appointed Stephen Davidson, as an external director and executive board chair.  Davidson is replacing Peter Bamford who left the society at the end of October. Earlier, Bamford held the post for six years and contributed majorly to the governance of the organisation.

Davidson will chair the licensing and nomination-remuneration committees in addition to the executive board of PRS for Music Ltd from 1 January 2015.

Prior to PRS for Music, Davidson held a post at WestLB Panmure where he was global head of media and telecoms and vice chairman of investment banking. He is chairman of Datatec Ltd (JSE and AIM listed) and Actual Experience plc, a non-executive director of Inmarsat plc and Restore plc and Deputy Chairman of Jaywing Group plc.

PRS for Music chief executive Robert Ashcroft said, "Stephen’s experience at the helm of so many global companies positioned him ideally for the role of Chairman of our Executive Board. The breadth of his knowledge, particularly of media and telecoms, perfectly equips him to help to drive our business forward and I am delighted to welcome him to PRS for Music."

Recently, PRS for Music has also appointed Paul Clements as the commercial director and Karen Buse as executive director of membership and international.
