Do most bollywood producers/ music directors believe that people who listen to their music are always in some disco dance party mood? Or perhaps, the composers have taken the job of pepping up the stressed out bus-train hopping junta with their music too seriously. It's hopeless to talk about the last music release New York, and the plagiarism accusation at Pritam for ripping off an Indonesian track (which has become more of a routine now). So, after the deceptive music of New York, it's time for Kambakkht Ishq, the second music release after the multiplex strike.

The album has three composers putting their brains behind the notes – Salim Sulaiman, Anu Malik and RDB. Talking about Om Mangalam, the track that is already doing multiple rotations on the music channels - RDB have hit certainly hit in the bullseye as far as the commercial 'pitch' goes. This is the only song that is inviting to the ears – the rest, simply break the hell loose. Anu Malik steps in to inflict pain with the title track Kambakkht Ishq. The title track smells of heard-before tunes and it's hard to digest the indecently ushered techo- folk feel which in one word is â€?tasteless'. Even the lively vocals of KK fail to give the song any lift. The track Lakh Lakh is yet another bungled tune – best uheard   

Not many actors have had a song tailor made for their �real' image, but Kareena is offered one in this film. However, as they say, there's difference in just �making' a track and making a memorable track of the real image. Inspired by Kareena's nickname, the track Bebo has Malik taking his listeners into some quagmire (wonder how Kareena herself finds this!!). The lyrics by Anvita Dutt Guptan (she had earlier written lyrics for Bachna Aye Haseeno) are predictable. It seems like Malik picked up some nursery rhyme tune, tinkered with it, and shot a clueless Alisha Chinai to run riot – enough to push the stop button. The only track digestable is Welcome To Hollywood – but we have definitely heard better from the Merchant duo. Kyun by Shaan and Shreya is the only decent offering on the album composed by Malik. All in all, it isn't hard to figure out that Kambakkht Ishq or 'damn love' (whatever you might like to call) has something going off the beam with its 'Kambakkht' music. Period.
