MUMBAI: The Delhi Police has asked FM radio stations in the country's capital to stop playing an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) jingle, which they say is slandering the force.

The woman featured in the radio jingle is heard saying that she was a victim of eve-teasing while on her way home. She then claims that she approaches a police station to file a complaint, but the officers at the station only question her about the incident. The woman eventually decides to leave the station without filing the complaint.

It also goes on to encourage people to bring back AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal to Delhi. "He will ensure that the city is a safer place for women and no such incidents will happen," it states.

Radio stations in Delhi have complied with the police request and stopped airing the jingle since Friday, 12 December. Furthermore, the stations have been told by police to get a clearance on jingles like these before playing them on air in the future.

A senior police officer has apparently confirmed the reports, stating that when it was brought to their notice, they had asked radio stations to stop playing the AAP radio jingle, which was defaming the force.

According to a report, the police will be looking into the matter and plan to approach AAP in order to verify whether or not the woman in the jingle is merely a character or an actual victim.
