Akhilesh Yadav turns to digital radio 'Radio Saifai' to interact with people

MUMBAI: While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has targeted terrestrial radio for 'Man Ki Baat', Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has turned to digital radio 'Radio Saifai' to express his view. Through the digital medium, he will reach out to people around the world.

Currently, the online radio plays shows based on farmers and agricultural activities. It is reported that the CM is likely to discuss the achievement of his Government and the activities carried on by the Samajwadi Party Government through this radio programme. Akhilesh Yadav launched the radio on Saifai Mahatsov and is playing the jingle 'Mann se hai Mulayam'. The song was recorded by the party for its campaign during the Lok Sabha elections last year.

Dharmu Dharmik Yadav, who conceptualised the radio said, "The CM invited me for a meeting where we would take a final call on the type and style of programming." He further added that he will soon have a bigger team that will have more knowledge on radio and will appoint a station head for the same. Yadav added that he has been working on the radio for a year now.

He said, "I never thought the radio station will become such a huge initiative. In just a few days, we have got 30,000 to 40,000 hits already. We are getting traction from Delhi and UP as of now and we hope to have more traffic from other regions as well."

When quizzed about internet challenges, he said "Our CM has provided laptops to residents in UP and there is no issue of connectivity. I am confident that we will make a huge impact on society."

The digital radio also has an app to "make the radio accessible to as many people as possible."
