Sony Music Entertainment head Doug Morris to talk about the 'Lessons Learnt' at Midem

MUMBAI: Music industry present at Midem 2015 will take notice of Sony Music Entertainment's CEO Doug Morris, as he will deliver a keynote interview on the 'Lessons Learned' at Midem on 6 June. The interview is a part of Midem Talks, Midem's plenary conference programme.

Morris will be interviewed by Part of Oxford University's Said Business School, Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation director Rupert Younger. During the session, he will share his decades of experience in music, creativity, management and business. The story-telling session will highlight the changed music industry and the challenges the music eco-system faces today.

Morris who began his career as a songwriter and producer said, "I knew very early that I wanted to spend my life in the music business and be part of the rock culture of that time." He has worked for Chiffons' 'Sweet Talkin' Guy' and Brownsville Station's 'Smokin' in the Boys Room.'

Commenting on the session, Morris said, "And that is the life I had, managing talent and creativity, leading change in the music business. It is now the right time to talk about the lessons I learned along the way. And I cannot think of a better occasion than Midem to share such learning with the global music community."

Morris is the founder of Vevo and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment. In a career spanning five decades, he spent 14 years as chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, and previously served as head of MCA Music Entertainment, Rising Tide Entertainment, Warner Music US, and the Atlantic Recording Group. Before that, he was president of ATCO Records, and founder and owner of Big Tree Records.
