MUMBAI: Music streaming service- Guvera has announced a major milestone, stating that it has reached two million users, in just two months since being launched in India. The platform became the first international music streaming service to come to India when it was made available to the Indian audience in November 2014.
Speaking on the milestone, Guvera founder and director of Innovation, Claes Loberg said, "It is very encouraging to know that Guvera has been so well received in the Indian market. Not only has India seen the number of users grow considerably since the launch here two months ago, but it also now accounts for a sizeable share of our global user base."
The service has tie-ups with the country's major content aggregators and labels including Believe, CDBaby, INGrooves, The Orchard, TuneCore, Hungama (Speed Records and T-Series), Universal Music Group and Sony Music. This has enabled it to increase its international, Bollywood and local content with an additional three million tracks to its huge library.
Guvera, in a statement, said that it will continue to provide "music via an ad-funded model is continuing to be seamlessly integrated with the user experience via the use of branded channels." Some of the brand channels to be launched on the Guvera India platform include premium brands like Harley Rock Riders, Nikon, Spykar, Cinthol, Kotak Bank, Godrej and Chroma.
Referring to branded channels Loberg said, "Branded channels are a great example of how users are able to engage with brands in a less disruptive manor. Guvera are putting the consumer in charge of the advertising experience. Moreover, advertisers know that they are paying for ads that consumers want. We believe that Guvera is a platform for advertisers and brands to connect with a significant database of users, made possible with the help of Guvera's innovative content-targeting algorithm."
The music service is also in a global partnership with Lenovo, which means that Guvera is "on the glass" of each Lenovo smartphone.
